My Poem

Trapped

I’ve been trapped in the darkness,

For as long as I can remember. 

I feel like I'm drowning,

in a pool full of tears.

Maybe there’s a way out,

Something to numb the pain.

There’s this something…

I hear this voice.

It’s telling me to make a choice,

Before it’s too late.

Thoughts fleeing through my mind,

I’m starting to feel like there’s no more light.

Palms sweaty, stomachs turning.

Shutting my eyes, forgetting what’s in sight.

Collapsing onto the floor,

My body is now feeling like jello.

Laying there, as I still have my eyes close.

In so much peace,

I am no longer trapped anymore. 

Learning intention: My class room had to think of a subject about anything and create it into a poem. We did this for a test. I chose to write about the subject of being 'trapped' in your mind.

Keeping Fireworks

Keeping Fireworks

For my topic I have decided to write about keeping fireworks instead of banning them. I am sure that at the end of the day you’ll be persuaded by my reasons and opinions that are stated throughout my paragraphs. I strongly believe that fireworks should be kept, instead of banning them. Fireworks have been a tradition for many families (including mine) and I want people who are reading my piece of writing, to believe this statement once they’re finished reading my persuasive piece of writing.

Families and friends are brought together by doing fireworks, and it’s a great opportunity for people to bond with each other and all around have a great time. Guy Fawkes has been a tradition in my family since I was little and it definitely brings the whole family together and the atmosphere is just so positive and it’s full of joy. I (and many others) celebrate fireworks on the 5th of November when the big event happened. Here, I will write a short story to sum up everything that happened on the night of the 5th. On the 5th of November, 1605, the gunpowder plot happened on the night of the 4 / 5th of November. Guy fawkes was named after a guy called Guy Fawkes! Guy Fawkes was caught with thirty-six barrels of gunpowder in the cellars beneath West miner. The idea was to blow up the House of Lords at the opening of Parliament on the 5th, and to assassinate King James 1.

Since many people are getting hurt from lighting fireworks, it’s 100% their responsibility and it’s their fault! When it comes to fireworks, people need to be more cautious about their surroundings and what they’re actually doing. Loads of young adults and teenagers are being stupid when they’re lighting / around fireworks. It has come to my research, that 71 people in New Zealand last Guy Fawkes, were injured and they were mostly children! Jumping jacks and fire crackers were well known from all of the injuries that were caused from last year. It disappoints me a bunch that people are getting hurt and possibly some will be at a death rate because of fireworks. The thing is, it’s their fault. Young teens and adults often drink alcohol and end up doing stupid stuff with fireworks. Also, adults need to keep their children safe and make sure that they’re not petrified, if so then keep them inside with another adult.

Second of all, if you have pet animals you can lock them inside and close the curtains shut. You can also play music or turn on the tv so they don’t hear the loud noise of the fireworks. Also you can keep them in the furnished room in your house where the atmosphere is all calm and neutral (this will make your pets think that nothing is going on and everything is normal.) I always hear people complaining about their pets being terrified by the loud noise of the fireworks, and the bright colours. Some people’s animals have even ran away from home! This, once again, is all of our responsibility. There are loads of ways you can make sure your pet is all safe and sound such as… don’t let fireworks off close to animals, have one of your family members inside of the house with your pet, keep them indoors (the reasons I mentioned earlier). Most importantly organise where you’re lighting the fireworks were either it’s in the backyard or at the beach.

Most importantly it has been a tradition for many families since the year 1605. Guy Fawkes night is an old English tradition and it’s an event that is celebrated with bonfires, fireworks, barbecues, and family gatherings. Every family has a different tradition where they do different stuff. Some create a rag doll / mannequin of the man and burn it in the fire.

To sum everything up, I am positive that the reasons I have stated will leave you bevelling that we should keep fireworks and that they should NOT be banned. It would be a real disappointment to many people across the nation, , hearing that fireworks may be banned for everyone and anyone. I know it would definitely upset me and my family since it’s been a tradition in my family for a long period of time. That’s why we should keep fireworks instead of banning them!

Learning intention: For Guy Fawkes, my classroom had to write a persuasive writing piece of were ether or not to ban fireworks or keep them. For my persuasive writing piece I chose to write about keeping fireworks, as it is my belief. 

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race 

Last week on Wednesday the 16th, the year thirteen high school students from Greyhigh, invited us to participate in the amazing race. The high school students organised all of the activities and they were in charge of them. For the amazing race we were all put into teams of four, a total of ten groups. We all had a country related theme and my team was the UK. When it came to doing the activities we competed against each other. There were a total of five activities for all of us to do. These activities included a lot of teamwork and encouragement. One of the activities was when you had to use chopsticks to balance a lolly, and you had to do this obstacle course to get to the end and finish the activity. The number of lollies your team gained then you would be rewarded with them at the end! Another activity was doing bowls. Basically a mat was laid down on the grass and your team had to roll all of the balls and try and get them as close to this little white one to win. The third activity was a haka one where you had to organise these pictures which resembled the actions and your team had to relocate them. After that activity was the fruit bowl race and for this, you had to wear a bowl of fruit on your head with a towel secured around your head to make sure it didn’t fall off another obstacle course and the aim was to beat the opposing team member you were up against. The final activity was soccer target, and this game was when you had to kick a soccer ball onto a picture that was attached to a fence and each of the pictures contained a certain amount of points. We only had a minute each to get as many points as we could.

Overall my personal favourite activity had to be the lolly chopstick race! I enjoyed this activity because we were rewarded with lollies at the end! Well yeah that too, but most importantly it was challenging for me because I’d never used chopsticks before. At the end of the day, the team with the most points will win the race, and my team won! I was in shock and I was super proud of everyone as well who worked hard and supported each other. I had an amazing time and I'm sure that everyone else did too. It was such an amazing day, and I am thankful for the opportunity to get to do something fun and exciting like this (since we don’t get to do much stuff related to this).

Rat Eradication

Last Tuesday my classroom went and built rat traps, with the year thirteens from high school who taught us how to build them. We learn't all about why it's important to trap rats, and why they need to be eridacted. We all had loads of fun, learning and creating rat traps. A special thank you to the year thirteen's from grehigh. We really appreciate it, we had loads of fun!

Duffy Books

This morning we got given two Duffy books from yesterday when a Duffy speaker came in, but we got given it today since we had a program on yesterday. Every term we get a panflet where we get to choose four books that we would like to read, and at the end of every term we get delivered them! Two books get chosen out of the four you choose. Our school is very grateful and lucky to get books to read, it really gives us an opportunity to learn alot more and improve our reading skills. The reason why my school gets Duffy books for free is because we are a Duffy school! Not only our school gets the chance to get awesome cool books, but a few other schools across New Zealand do too! Every year there is a Duffy show at school, and sometimes at the end of it we get given our free books! Students all around New Zealand have received around 12 million + books from Duffy! Duffy gives books to over 100,000 New Zealand children around about three times a year. The two books I received today are called Echo by Esperanza Rising And The Dreamer, and I also got given a book called Infernal Devices by Philip Reeve. I am super grateful and lucky that my school gets given Duffy books, because it's an great way for kids to learn and improve their reading skills.

I think that space exploration is extremely important and useful for multiple reasons. Here I’ll be stating all of the reasons why I think its important and giving you my honest opinions and thoughts.

My first reason is that if we don’t find new places to live and areas we could become extinct. Why’s that? And how? (you may ask) well in this world there are currently more than seven billion people that live on planet earth, which is quite a huge amount of people. But however we’re all crammed together on this single, individual planet. If something happened to earth like a meteor came crashing down or a huge asteroid happened, our species could be wiped out and humans could become extinct. Colonising other bodies in the solar system is a way to create “backup” of humanity that will survive no matter what happens to earth. This is just a thought, but maybe in the future humans will never be seen to take a step on planet earth again, perhaps they could be living on another planet, but hopefully they don’t become extinct. Space exploration is helping to address fundamental questions about our place in the universe and the history of our solar system.

My next reason is that space mining could save the world. New technologies are getting built and designed every single day, therefore the strain on our natural resources continue to increase. The extraction of valuable minerals has led to a host of problems, including environmental damage, and human exploitation, but there’s an amount of precious materials that are lying around in space. Startups like planetary resources want to mine asteroids instead of earth, which would mean an effectively unlimited supply of raw materials that are laid upon earth. In theory, hydrogen fuel that's been mined from asteroids costs significantly less than fuel from planet earth! Due to high costs of escaping earth’s gravity.

We also need to continue to explore and discover. It’s very important humans keep doing this or otherwise we are going to be stuck on planet earth until the day we might become extinct. There are more practical reasons for space exploration, but one of the principal reasons we must continue is that we are explorers. That’s why humans number in the billions from our earliest upright steps, we’ve endeavoured to learn more about the world around us, and this is to build civilisation. Exploring space is an opportunity not only to discover new worlds and build advanced technologies, but instead to work towards a larger goal irrespective of nationality, race, or gender. If we discontinue to explore then we may stop being a human race.

Most importantly the human race is increasing more and more by the day. Every day a child enter this world, which means are population goes up. Some countries make that having children is illegal. Our current population is 7.7 billion in August 2019. Our population is increasing 82 million per year! Our population is becoming more huge, and people are becoming homeless. There could be a few reasons for this. One not enough houses are getting built or two, the prices of housing are becoming more expensive for people to buy. We also really just need a backup because one day something terrible could happen to earth and what are we going to do then? Give up and just sit there until death falls upon us? No. We need to continue to explore and Nasa needs to continue to spend money for space exploration. Because population is expanding rapidly in huge numbers. There is hope to find a planet in space that can sustain life to human beings. I believe there are planets out there that include an environment that is safe for us to live on, but it must include the important resources we use on a daily basis like oxygen, water, trees to give us oxygen (plant life), food, shelter etc. As a team humans could build and create a new planet that is suitable for everyone to live on.

Another durable reason I have is space exploration can protect us by a catastrophic asteroid. This could be the cause of a possible chance on how the world might end. An asteroid hits our planet about every 10,000 years or so… shouldn’t we all be prepared? If we don’t want to end up like the dinosaurs someday, we need to start to protect ourselves against the threat of being hit by a big asteroid. According to Nasa, typically about once every 10,000 years, rocky or iron asteroids (which is around about the size of a football field!) could smash into our planet’s surface and possibly cause tidal waves big enough to inundate coastal areas. But we also have something else to fear about... there are asteroids that are about 100 meters (109 yards) across or bigger that we really have to watch out for. Such a collision would unleash a firestorm of heated debris that would fill the atmosphere with sun-blocking dust, which can easily wipe out forests and farm fields and starve the human and animal life that it didn’t immediately kill. All though there is this widely funded space program that enables us to spot a dangerous object long before it strikes earth, and send a spacecraft to plant a detonate nuclear explosion that could nudge it off its collision course.

My very last reason is that space exploration could help solve a really big question. A Lot of people believe that life exists somewhere else in the cosmos, according to a 2013 Huffing ton poll half of the american nation chose to believe it! And a quarter of them think that extraterrestrials already have visited our planet. But so far, sweeps of the sky with Earth-based telescopes for signals that might be beacons from distant civilisations have proven fruitless, possibly because the Earth's atmosphere interferes with such messages reaching us. That's why searchers for extraterrestrial civilisations are eager for the deployment of more orbital observatories such as the James Webb Space Telescope. That satellite, which was expected to launch in 2018, had the ability to search for the chemical signs of life in the atmospheres of distant planets outside our solar system (source: Kramer). That's a start, but an even more aggressive space-based effort to look for clues of extraterrestrials might finally help us to answer the question of whether we have company out there.

To sum everything up, In conclusion, I believe that space exploration is important and needs to continue. I have given decent reasons and explanations on why space exploration is important. I have explained the impact on how it affects our environment, population etc. I’ve also explained how its important we should keep exploring and overall how important space exploration really is. These are my reasons, opinions and thoughts on what I think about it. Overall, I strongly believe that space exploration is important and it should continue!

Our classroom was assigned to make art using something to either create the solar system, or something related to space. Here I decided to create the solar system. I used black paper and pencil to first outline the planets, and then I used pastels. I then picked a pale, purplish colour to mount my work on the paper to use for the background.

Here this document was filled with tasks we had to complete in order. First we had to make a new document and include five station facts about the lunar module.

Was to build our Lunar Module Project! Here is my project I have made! 

I made my project using different materials. During the process I did make a few mistakes and it did take quite alot of work to do, and I did most of it at home. I also included a few things inside of my model, like a control panel, a bed and a few other things. Overall I'm kind of proud of my project but there would be a few things I would do to maybe improve it. Now what we have to do is too test it by using two lego people (acting as astronauts) and they have to be able to stand inside of it without falling over and we have to drop it in the sand! we haven't done it yet, (due to wet weather) but I'm hoping mine works.

Pt. 1 The Two Monkey Twins And The Evil Chicken Nugget Monster

Once upon a time two curious monkey twins were bored out of their minds. They were both sitting in their steel metal cage where the whole world revolves around them. The monkey twins were very suspicious towards the other animals. They were awfully quiet, and they didn’t really interact with any of their animal friends. They both wondered what it was like in the city, and how humans lived. One of the monkey’s had an very dangerous plan to break out of the zoo in the middle of the night were all of the animals would be asleep. They wanted to try some human food instead of eating rotten bananas for their three meals a day. So they both remained silent with only the sound of cars zooming through the city and the street lights beaming on the metal cage were the reflection of a glooming light shined through their brown hazel eyes. They both waited till the full moon was out…

Time flew by and all of the animals were asleep. Both of them waited a bit longer for the zookeeper's to go home, but one major thing they had to do was break the security cameras. So one of the monkey twins broke out of the cage, using her sharp rounded teeth chewing around the edges of the rusty metal. The other monkey was a bit hypo (this particular monkey gets very hyper at midnight) she started to jump around and wave her hands around like a loonnitick the other monkey paused with a puzzled look on her face. “Ummm monkey twin, I think you’ve had enough banana’s today” she whispered. The other twin was too busy swinging on the vines and the next minute she was out of the gates! “Wait hold up monkey twin!”. “Hurry up twin!” said the excited monkey. “I really want to try some of their delicious chicken nuggets they sell at the famous McDonald's restaurant!”. It had been ten minutes or so and they were both very sturdy and very conscious about what they were doing, well except for one… (now I would describe this monkey to be very coo coo). The other monkey was still jumping around like she was a kid on Halloween night that had too much candy. “Shut up”! Said the furious twin. “You’re gonna get us caught”! The twin continued on being a twat, and seconds later a police car drove down the street. “Twin!” both of the monkeys ran behind a pub and hid behind a dumpster until the police car was no longer to be seen. “Great you idiot”! “You nearly got us caught!!” “Sorry twin I’ll be a bit more careful” the monkey said with a quiet voice.

Half an hour later the twins both arrived at the restaurant. “Oh monkey twin, I’m starving” “Me too I really want to try their chicken nuggets so desperately!” “Me too!” both of their stomachs rumbled and vibrated like a earthquake. Both of the twins snuck in the bush and discussed their plan on how they were going to get inside of the restaurant. “Okay so you distract the three workers by pretending your homeless, and then I’ll make a run for it and I’ll karate chop them in the face!” “What, wait, why!” “Why do I get the lame job!” “Look we have no time for arguments, okay I promise I’ll make it up to you.. Some day”. “Okay whatever” the other twin said in a sarcastic voice. It had been 3 or 4 minutes and one of the twins jumped out of the bush and started acting very strange… (according to the “smart” twin). “Wait, what are you doing that wasn’t part of the plan!” “I can be brave and strong like you watch me I don't need no fun, fancy job” the twin said in a jealous voice. The twin started dancing and doing fortnite dances in front of the doors, the other twin shook her head with disappointment. One of the workers came walking towards the monkey, and slowly opened the door. “Woah check it out dude!” “It’s a dancing monkey, I’m definitely putting this on youtube and everywhere on social media!” the worker (named Jeff) pulled out his cellphone and filmed the goofy monkey. “Wow I’m going to get big million dollar bills!” the twin said in her head. The other twin eventually came out of the bush and the dancing monkeys one minute of fame was over. “Noooo!” the twin yelled with anger. The “smart” twin karate chopped the worker’s face. “Woah that was awesome”. “Yeah it was so awesome” the other twin said in a sarcastic voice. “I still don’t get why I didn’t get the cool job”. “Well I mean dancing like an idiot in front of a human is pretty cool too… but karate chopping someone’s face is twice the awesomeness”. “Yeah sure that’s a whole bunch of lies”. “Well let's face it twin you can’t do it” she said with a little giggle. Then a moment of silence came between them they then bursted out into laughter.

They both tiptoed into the restaurant and headed straight into the cooking station. “Now twin this is where the golden chicken nuggets are”. “Mmm I can smell them they smell so delicious!”. Their hopes for having a bucket full of chicken nuggets and becoming a millionaire wasn’t as what they expected. A shadow of a very strange creature that was very weirdly shaped, (as a writer, I could explain that the shape awfully looked like a chicken nugget).The peculiar creature was hidden beneath the french fryer of an overload of oily chips. The creature came crawling out towards them. What could this be? A monster? Could it be the monkey’s worst nightmare? Most importantly will they survive...

Girls Day At School

Girls Day At School

So at school there has been some drama going on between nine of us girls. On Wednesday we had this big conversation in the staff room talking about out our feelings, and the whole situation but the bright side is we are all friends again and Im glad we are and so is all the other girls. During the conversation it got deep and alot of us got emotional but we supported each other. The next day Miss Smith (our teacher) decided to get some nail products, chocolate, hair products for a girl bonding session. After lunch we all went to the library and had so much fun! We painted each others nails, did each others hair, ate chocolate and listened to music, we also talked aswell! It was so awesome! And it was a great way to get along with each other, and get a bond with each other. Overall we had an awesome day and it was such a great opportunity for us girls to get along with each other and become friends.

Balance Work

So at the start of the term in my classroom we had started a balance project for our topic subject. We first made a slideshow and completed these tasks that involve with balance. We next had this homework project that was given to us were we could make a balance toy out of recycled materials. I had made a cardboard scale and the materials I used was hot glue, paint and scissors (if you want to see my toy there is a video of me explaining about it and theres also a photo included in the slideshow) I hope you guys enjoyed my balance research project!!

My Camping Trip (Personal Recount)

Camping Disaster

This story is all about the most, miserable, horrible disastrous camping trip I’ve ever been on in my life, well I mean it could be worse but still it was pretty bad. This event had happened during the summer holidays, the days were getting hotter and hotter, me and my family were all exhausted to do anything or even to take a step outside! Since the weather was melting hot it felt like we were all trapped in a hot volcano erupting with boiling lava. But days and days went on and we all started to get VERY bored, so me and my family (Me, Mum, Tony Shaun, and my wee dog named Tilly) thought up a nice camping trip at Nelson Creek! (well at least I thought it was at the time)....

We all started to gather our camping gear together which took about 20 minutes or so, for all of us to get ready and head to Nelson Creek in total it took about half an hour or so, but we were all ready by the time of 10:30, and off we were on the road heading to a peaceful relaxation environment man I was pumped to relax and enjoy spending time with my family, oh and to also go for a nice walk on the bridge. We had eventually arrived there at around 11:00 it didn’t take very long to get there. We all hopped out of the ute and grabbed our gear from the boot and started unpacking. The most annoying/boring part was setting up the tents it was a NIGHTMARE, but luckily I don’t have a very big family so me and my brother shared a tent, and then my mum and Tony had shared one (but one thing that made it a bit more annoying was that there was a few arguments about the tents which was a bit silly, but we all had a good laugh) . Finally we had everything unpacked, the tents, the barbecue, blankets, pillows, the food, oh and of course the in scent repillant, (that had came very handy) also how can I forget one of the most important things to have on a camping trip sunblock.


It had been about a few hours or so, we were all having a nice conversation together, we all started getting a bit peckish so we grabbed a box of cheese and barbecue flavoured shapes and some nice sweet cherries. Everything was going quite good, it was peaceful relaxing, but….. Then four buses of tourists came driving down! We were all like man come on! It was so quiet and peaceful, with only so little of people were there, but then chaos started. There was a whole bunch of tourist having a big lunch! It was crazy! It started to get very crowded and noisy, the relaxation of peace was now turned into a mess. Luckily they didn’t stay for too long they stayed for about an hour or so, so now it was back to peacefulness. So as me and my family were just enjoying our time having a nice cold drink of lemonade and a few snacks, it was all going good until I felt a little bite on my ankle. The Moses and sand flies were attacking! I reach out in the bag and grab the insect repellent and spray it all over my legs and arms.


There wasn’t much to do and it was getting quite boring, so me and my brother decided to go on the bridge walk and explore. We went through the dark cave that echoed when we spoke, we ran across the bridge it was quite fun. We went on a half an hour 45 min walk, we walked across little water streams, and one point I walked across a boulder and I accidentally had fallen into a water stream, me and my brother both started laughing. Once we had finished the walk we ran back to our camping site and I fell to the ground with exhaustion I was so puffed from running back. It had been about three or four hours the time was flying by and it was already 6:30! It was still daylight and we were all very hungry, so my stepdad (Tony) Put some sausages on the barbecue and of they were nicely sizzling along. It took about 20 minutes or 25 minutes for them to be fully cooked. We all ate our sausages and we were full as a ball, I couldn’t even take another bite even if I tried too. Time went by and we were all exhausted and tired. Me and my brother headed into our tent and headed to bed but…


That idea of having a nice sleep and having sweet dreams turned into a nightmare. Their were adults and teenagers having a party! There was loud roaring music, fires, parents drinking booze, it was just horrible. The current time was 9:30 and there was still little kids running around the place! Me and my brother just laid there and started talking there was no point of trying to fall asleep since the music was booming out loud and we could hear loud voices from afar. We sat up and talked for quite along time, I was really tired and I just wanted to get some rest, I did luckily get some after my mum and Tony could hear me and my brother talking, so we got told off, we started giggling a little. The sky was pitch black the little stars were sparkling in my eyes the moonlight lit up, the bright light shines right through the tent, I gently closed my eyes and fell asleep. I was in deep sleep, I'm still curious on how I had fallen asleep so fast from all the racket noise that I was surrounded by, but not too long after I had been woken up by my brother at 2:30 in the morning :( I woke up and I was quite furious I asked my brother
“Why did you wake me up??!”
He shrugged his shoulders and laughed. I think he might’ve just woke me up for a joke, but at the time it wasn’t very funny. Both me and my brother had eventually fallen into deep sleep.


It was early in the morning 5:30 am to be exact and I woke up again shivering, it was raining! The tent was soaked in water and it was freezing cold, somehow my sleeping bag was in the corner of the tent I reach out to grab it and I snuggle back inside. It was still very cold, and I was wide awake, I couldn’t fall back asleep, I was very surprised my brother, mum and Tony were still fast asleep. I layed in my sleeping bag staring at the top of the soaking tent with water dripping on my face, only having my thoughts let alone with me. Not too long I thought to get revenge back on my brother I can wake him up early, so the time was very early so I thought it was a perfect idea to wake him up! I grabbed my pillow and threw it at him. He slowly opened his eyes and spoke with a croaky voice saying,
“What time is it”
I didn’t end up replying with the actual time, so instead I had just replied with

“Its 10:30 quick get ready were leaving” (so I could try and trick him)

He didn’t believe me sadly haha, he said
“No its not I’m not dumb, there aint no light outside” he said in a very funny voice.
(it didn’t go how I was expecting it to be but it was still very funny).


Me and my brother had finally fallen asleep, we both had woken up and it was still pouring with rain. My mum and stepdad were up and already packing to leave, I carefully stood up I was a little bit shaky since I had just woken up. I carefully unzipped the tent and walked outside to ask my mum what the time was she said it was 9:00, and it was cold and miserable we all just wanted to go home desperately and I just wanted to feel the warmth of a cozy fire and to be able to snuggle up in my nice warm and toasty bed I was just so desperate to have a nice decent sleep. We all were up and busy packing, I really couldn’t be bothered packing since, my lack of sleep I had gotten made me extremely tired. Thankfully it didn’t take very long we all were super fast since it was drooping with rain, we all just couldn’t wait to get back home. We hopped in the ute and off we went driving back home. We all got out of the vehicle quickly grabbed all of the gear and made sure we didn’t leave anything behind and thank goodness we didn't! Cause that would’ve been the last thing on my mind. I ran back into my house unpacked all of my stuff quickly as possible and headed to the lounge to be near the warm cozy fire and to watch a movie with my family.


Well the camping trip didn’t go how we all expected it to be. My thoughts of peace and relaxation, ended quickly. So many disastrous things did happen on my camping trip, but that's what made it more fun. I tripped on a boulder and fell in water, me and my family got attacked by bugs, teenagers and parents blasting loud music, having to set up the tents (now that was quite annoying, but very funny), loads of tourists came, I mean maybe it wasn’t so bad after all, but I could definitely say I had been on way better camping trips. But the bright side is at least I got to spend some nice time with my family, along with a lot of laughs, so in the end it was a disaster but it was very funny and something me and my family will remember.



Learning Intention: In my class room we are learning how to use dialog, in our recounts. We have been writing a recount thats personal to us so like something that has happened in the past or present, and what we feel is special and important to us. Here I wrote a recount about my camping trip.

My Three Little Pigs Recount / Newspaper Report

Hello everyone that is reading this article, I am Jane McNeil reporting a shocking incident that has happened more than over three weeks. After all these days and weeks I have been recording information I have discovered. I had finally found what had happened to a poor innocent wolf named Tom Perkins, a devastating murder by three greedy pigs named Fred, Alex and Mike.. All of these mysteries, rumours and stories had all been added up to something shocking little did I know the stories of what I was getting told by multiple citizens across a small town named oak field located in Britain. All of these stories had to lead up to something, and eventually after I had worked out what had actually happen it was quite shocking and devastating.


This all had started on February the 6th. The three little pig brothers had finally finished high school, not one of them tried hard in school, their grades were really poor and they would hardly ever show up. The three little pigs were so glad that they had finished high school, it was all done and dusted for them, but their dreams of having fancy houses and mansions, didn’t come true from all of their lack of laziness and no effort being put towards their education in the end they all got given a poor home or not so flash house if I tried to be a bit nice about it. Fred ended up with a house made out of bricks, Alex had a house made out of straw and Mike had a house made out of wood. It had been a month and they all got settled into their home, here it all started,

“Brn Gg” Fred picks up the phone.

“I can’t afford to pay the mortgage of my house”! Alex said in anger.

“Me neither” Fred replied.

“I'm sick of this, its stupid the government is ridiculous with their house owns and payments, its stupid”!

“Calm the farm! I have a plan you’ll have to tell Mike about this too”

“Ok what is it then!” Alex replied back with a snarley tone to his voice.

“So since, when can’t afford to pay the mortgage off, and I have many issues going on with my house right now, my bathroom is leaking, my roof is half teared apart, and their is several punches in the wall but enough of that, the plan is, we get money from the bank”!

“Wow, well good idea but we need to tell the government what happened to our houses, so you know that old wolf that always goes on the bus in the mornings”? Alex added.

“Yes indeed, we can make him an excuse and say he destroyed our houses, so we don’t get in jail, and if they government finds out we’ll boil the wolf alive and have a cookout”.

“Perfect”! Alex said with excitement

“I’ll tell mike about this”.

“Okay” Fred replied..


The next morning Mike was heading off to the bus stop. He saw Tom the wolf and gave him a filthy look, he used a fake sweet innocent voice and said 

“Oh why hello there”!

“Good morning, isn’t it a lovely day today”! Tom replied.

“Yes indeed it is, um I need help with something”

“Oh what is it?” Tom said anxiously.

“I was wondering, even know we just meet if you could come to my brother’s house, Fred were having a barbecue tonight, me and my brother Alex are only coming, I just thought it would be a fun idea”! Mike said mischefily.

“Hmmm well I could consider it, a nice piece of steak sounds wonderful”.

“Yes of course, we will have a feast, oh and here is my address to my brothers house come at 4:30pm”.

“Okay sounds fantastic” Tom said happily with a smile.

“Hahaha plan A is complete” Mike mumbled with a evil look on his face.

After a few hours it was the afternoon, it was cold, misty, and wet rainy weather. The three pigs were concerned if Tom would come, they all discussed there plans there was plan B and plan C left.

“Okay so, great job Mike you got him willing to come to our surprise barbecue party” Fred said greedly.

“Well thank you Fred, but now its plan b”.

“So me, and Alex are going to go to the bank at 12:pm tonight, Mike you have to stay with Tom keep him occupied say its a late night fest”.

“Ugh im sick of doing the boring stuff it ain’t fair, why can’t I do something exciting”! Mike replied with rage.

“Lets just stick with the plan guys” Alex said all calm and collected.

It was just about 3:30 pm half an hour until Tom had arrived to Fred’s house. Tom walked off the local orbiter bus that goes around the town and he walked off the bus coughing, Tom had a terrible cold, it was so terrible that at some points of the nights he struggled breathing! He stumbled towards the door and knocked three times, Mike ran up to the door and gently opened it and welcomed Tom into fred’s home. Fred whispered into Alex’s ear come on lets hang around town till 12:00 pm until the bank is closed and there's no one to be seen. Fred and Alex left the household and went into their car and drove off heading to the town square. Tom was curious why they had left so quickly, Tom asks

“Excuse me Mike, but why did your brother’s leave so early as soon as I arrived”?

“Oh don’t worry haha they’re just gonna head out for a bit, but don’t worry we’ll have our feast, actually how about now”?!

“Ah yeah sure? I'm pretty hungry actually haha”

“Great”! Mike replied.

Mike rushed to the kitchen and earlier on he already had repeated the feast. Mike and his brothers were extremely prepared, for tonight. Time was flicking, one minute it was 5 o'clock the next it was 11:30! Mike and Tom were sitting in front of the television watching a game of footy and had been eating a nice juicy steak, Tom was exhausted and had fell asleep quite quickly, it was half an hour until the big final plan had begun. The town was quite, empty and dark everyone in their houses were all in their nice cozy beds fast asleep. Fred and Alex drove up to the ally near the bank, and the both opened the car door with a small creek, and tiptoed to the front door of the building. Fred had used a small pick to unlock the door, and rushed right in. they headed straight to the safe,

“Hmmmm Alex you see that? With all of that money we can be rich pigs”

“Yep Fred come on”

They’d open the door to the safe, and chucked all of the cash and coins into a bag. They rushed back to the car, but unluckily the siren went off Fred and Alex were panicking, they speeded off back to the house. They opened the door and yelled

“Hurry up Mike, quick tie the wolf up and chuck him into the oven, before the cops come”!

Tom carefully rubbed his eyes and gently opened them,

“Huh what's going on”?? Tom said with confusion.

Mike had carried the wolf to the oven and turned the temperature to 550 degrees Celsius, on bake. Many seconds later the cops showed up, the wolf was crying with fear he was trapped and isolated, The cops burt into the door with furious and yelled

“PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR YOU FILTHY PIGS”!

The three little pigs were arrested for committing crime and murder with guilt. The wolf poorly had been murdered and had nothing to do with the greedy pigs, he had no chance of blowing down their houses! He had very bad asthma so there was no way in the world he could of destroyed their houses he couldn’t even blow a whistle! Tom’s family and many of his beloved ones across the town, were devastated of his death and many will remember him of his act of kindness On the other hand the three brother pigs have been sentenced for life in jail, and no human being would ever be able to see those filthy, greedy, pigs ever again.

Learning Intentions: 

We are learning to use dialog and write in a style of a newspaper / recount, report, and we wrote about our own version of the three little pigs.

He started his career when he was 14 and never gave up while showing a lot of resilience.


He set a goal, and strived for success and inspired to be and artist and never gave up during his career.


That he was the first ever artist to have a show at super bowls, the soumaya museum located in Mexico, world cups, Olympics, and even more places! Which I think is incredible.

Ever since Romero Britto was a young boy, growing up in the north side of Brazil living with a big family of eight brothers and sisters he had a huge dream to become a diplomat. Romero wanted to visit the world. It didn’t take long for Romero to realise that how he would travel around the world was by his artwork. While he was growing up his family had a tight budget there were no art supplies he could use. But whatever scraps of paper and any paint he could find Romero talent begun to develop, he would paint at any chance he had gotten. His first art work he had sold was when he was fourteen years old, with the price of 10$ from there he was a true artist that was born. Romero’s challenged childhood brought him to where he was, while throughout the way he used a lot of resilience during his career. Romero’s career took off in Miami. People were amazed by his incredible, vibrant, bold and colourful art. Just before Romero was painting on the streets then the next his artwork is known by many others across the whole entire world! Romero Britto has came along way throughout his career with his colourful, unique artwork.

Golden, brownish curly thick hair. A sort of heart shaped face with a little bit of a curved nose. Dark light blue eyes. Long black eyelashes. Straight and pointy teeth. Light fair skin. And thick furry eyebrows.

A description of myself.

Describing myself I would describe my hair as a  golden brownish colour. My hair is medium length and is super thick and curly. My face is shaped like sort of a heart, my nose is quite straight but has a little curve around the bottom area of my nose. My eyes are medium size and the colour of my eyes are sort of like the deep blue Atlantic ocean, around my pupil I have this greyish toned ring. My eyebrows have that sort of curved arch shape to it, their thick and a little bit furry. My eyelashes are long and black, they sort of remind me of  a tiny spider. The colour of my skin tone is a light fair pale colour. My teeth are pointy and straight some of my teeth look like vampire fangs.

Here is a photo of me and my friend at coal creek falls. What we did was swimming in the

Activity - Persistent Pollution (Summer Learning Journey)

Activity - Share three new things you learn't about air pollution:

1. That smog is a type of air pollution and that it can affect the ability of humans visibility, and different health affects. Also that smog can harm plants and cause respiratory stress to humans.


2. When we burn fossils fuels to produce energy it forms green house gases and it gets released out into the air. Green house gases create a cycle of 3 different things from it. First off is climate change and so climate change creates higher temperatures, and then high temperatures can cause several different types of air pollution.

3. Climate change increases smog, from the high heat, it increases more levels of UV radiation (Ultra Violet Radiation). Climate change can also affect the rise in mold, this can have affects of extreme weather such as flooding. Flooding can majorly cause to damp and wet conditions and is highly likely at a risk of producing mold. Climate change also creates warmer weather, which can lead up to longer pollen seasons, and therefore from that there is more pollen production.

Activity - Flying Foxes (Summer Learning Journey)

Activity Question: What super power would you like to have?

My superpower I would like to have is being able to shape shift. If you don't know what shape shifting is, its when you are able to transform yourself into a creature, a certain shape, gender, or even a person. Why I would like to shape shift is because it can be helpful for things like if you wanted to run somewhere for example you could be a cheetah so you can run faster, or if you wanted to climb something you could be a monkey. I think having shape shifting would be fun to have as a power and useful for some occasions, and it can be very helpful. I think shape shifting would be a really cool and a useful power to have.

Activity - You are my sunshine (Summer learning journey)

In Nz, in the summertime the temperatures can be really hot causing a lot of people to get sun burnt. Sunburn isn’t fun to have, you can get skin cancer from it.

Here are five things you can do to not get sunburnt.

1. Apply sunblock on your face, legs, arms, etc before you head outside and its always good to apply some more on every once in a while.

2. Put a sunhat on, a lot of people can get very burnt on their faces, necks, and behind their ears so its a good thing if you were a sunhat.

3. You can always wear long sleeved t - shirts. Long sleeved t - shirts are more protective in
The sun and darker colours can also protect you from the sun as well.

4. Go into the shade every once in a while. Sitting outside in the sun can not always be so
good for your skin, you can always plan outdoor activities in the shade too.

5. Wear sunglasses. Wearing sunglasses is important, because your eyes can still get
Damaged from the sun, just like your skin can, if you get burnt on your eyes it can leave
You to have blurred vision and a burning sensation.
